Pompeii Frozen Victims

Those that did not flee the city of Pompeii in August of 79 AD were doomed. Buried for 1700 years under 30 feet of mud and ash and reduced by the centuries to skeletons, they remained entombed until excavations in the early 1800s.
As excavators continued to uncover human remains, they noticed that the skeletons were surrounded by voids in the compacted ash. By carefully pouring plaster of Paris into the spaces, the final poses, clothing, and faces of the last residents of Pompeii came to life.
Their last days began on August 24, 79 AD, the day after the Roman holiday of Volcanalia, dedicated to the god of fire. At noon Mount Vesuvius roared to life, spewing ash hundreds of feet into the air for 18 hours straight. The choking ash rained down on the cities in the surrounding countryside, filling courtyards, blocking doors, and collapsing roofs. In the only known eye witness account to the eruption, Pliny the Younger reported on his uncle's ill-fated foray into the thick of the ash from Misenum, on the north end of the bay:
". . .the buildings were now shaking with violent shocks, and seemed to be swaying to and fro as if they were torn from their foundations. Outside, on the other hand, there was the danger of failing pumice stones, even though these were light and porous; however, after comparing the risks they chose the latter. In my uncle's case one reason outweighed the other, but for the others it was a choice of fears. As a protection against falling objects they put pillows on their heads tied down with cloths. "
And then: "You could hear the shrieks of women, the wailing of infants, and the shouting of men; some were calling their parents, others their children or their wives, trying to recognize them by their voices. People bewailed their own fate or that of their relatives, and there were some who prayed for death in their terror of dying. Many besought the aid of the gods, but still more imagined there were no gods left, and that the universe was plunged into eternal darkness for evermore."
The next morning, the cone of the volcano collapsed, triggering a hundred mile an hour avalanche of mud and ash that flooded Pompeii, just a little over five miles away, destroying everything in its path. Pompeii and its smaller neighboring village of Herculaneum disappeared, and were only discovered by accident during the construction of Charles of Bourbon's palace in 1738. Miraculously, the two cities were nearly perfectly preserved under layers of ash.
About 3/4 of Pompeii's 165 acres have been excavated, and some 1,150 bodies have been discovered out of an estimated 2,000 thought to have died in the city when it was destroyed. This means that the vast majority of the city of 20,000 fled at the first signs of the volcanic activity. The plaster casts of the men, women, children, and animals of Pompeii were primarily made in the mid 1800s. The building they were originally housed in suffered extensive damage in WWII, and they are now located in several places around the city.
The Antiquarium, near the Forum, once held most of the plaster casts. It was damaged during Allied bombing in 1943, and has been closed since 1978 for restoration.
The Garden of the Fugitives holds the largest number of victims found in one place, where thirteen people sought refuge in a fruit orchard. Nine sets of remains were found at the House of Mysteries, where the roof collapsed trapping them inside. One plaster cast can be seen inside the Caupona Pherusa tavern.
The Stabian Thermal baths and the Macellum (fish market) both house two plaster casts, and the Horrea (granary) and Olitorium (market) holds several more, including a pig, and what may be the most famous cast of all, of a small dog in a collar, writhing on its back.
The casts are reportedly no longer made as they destroy the delicate skeletons within.
In 2010 a exhibition includes several of the Pompeii plaster casts opened at the Antiquarium de Boscoreale, near Pompeii. Many of the artifacts from Pompeii are now located at the National Museum in Naples (Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli), including the famous "Secret Cabinet" of erotic art.
One million people now live in Naples, in the shadow of Vesuvius. According to National Geographic Magazine in 2006, "[Volcanologists] Sheridan and Mastrolorenzo have calculated that there is a greater than 50 percent chance of a major eruption each year now, the odds rising incrementally as the time since the last big plinian event grows longer year by year."

Analitical Exposition - my English task

Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery

Introduction

Plastic surgery is the branch of surgery specialising in repairing and reconstructing missing or damaged tissue and skin, usually due to surgery, illness, injury or an abnormality present from birth. The main aim of plastic surgery is to restore the function of tissues and skin to as close to normal as possible. Improving the appearance of body parts is an important, but secondary, objective of plastic surgery. Plastic surgery uses a great range of techniques, depending on the condition being treated. There are three main groups of reconstructive methods: skin grafts - a procedure that transfers parts of healthy skin from an unaffected area of the body to replace lost or damaged skin, relying on the grafted area to keep the graft alive. Skin flap surgery - a procedure that involves the transfer of a living piece of tissue from one part of the body to another, along with the blood vessels that keep it alive; it is called flap surgery because the healthy tissue usually remains partially attached to the body while it is repositioned. Tissue expansion - a procedure that enables the body to 'grow' extra skin by stretching surrounding tissue, this extra skin can then be used to help reconstruct the nearby area. As well as these main techniques, plastic surgeons use a wide range of other methods – such as vacuum closure (where suction is applied to the wound through a sterile piece of foam to help encourage better healing), camouflage make-up or cream and prosthetic devices (for example, artificial limbs).

Benefit

Plastic surgery can be used to repair abnormalities caused by birth defects, such as a cleft lip and palate, webbed fingers and birthmarks, repair areas damaged by the removal of cancerous tissue, such as from the face or breast and repair extensive burns or other serious injuries, such as those sustained during motor vehicle accidents. Plastic surgery can also help a person recover their self-esteem and confidence following surgery for an abnormality that has existed from birth (congenital abnormality), an injury or illness.

Disadvantages

As with any type of surgery, there are risks and complications associated with plastic surgery. The degree of risk will depend on a number of factors, including whether the surgery is to a small or large area of tissue, the surgeon's level of experience and the overall health of the person having the procedure. Some procedures carry specific risks, but general risks include infection, scarring and the failure of the repaired area of skin due to a restricted blood supply.

Conclusion

I think plastic surgery is not too necessary except for big injuries repairs. With plastic surgery we can make our appeareance exactly like we want, something kinda fake. But plastic surgery wont be able to change our genetic or DNA. There are so many side effects and serious risks for doing plastic surgery. So, I think it's better not to take these kind of plastic surgery. We should be grateful for everything God has given to us.

Dolphin

Dolphin is cute, intelligent marine mammals. Dolphins are part of the family of toothed whales that includes orcas and pilot whales. They live in shallow seas and river. They're carnivores and eat fish, squid and crustaceans. Dolphins has varies coloration but generally gray with darker backs.
Dolphins do ecolocation to navigate and hunt. They listening for the echoes with high-pitched sounds. Well known for their playful behaviour, they often do spy-hope (rise vertically out of the water). Usually they'll follow ships in the ocean. Generally they will live for 35-45 years. To prevent drowning while sleeping, only half of the dolphin's brain goes to sleep while the other half remains awake so they can continue to breathe. They weight is 110 kg to 400 kg and lenght about 1.5 m to 4 m. Do you know? dolphins also can sniff out bombs and are useful for military.
